Artist's Description
Shawnee is a Medicine Hat Mustang from Twin Peaks Range in California. She has had a book published about her exploits by her owner Lisa Wood. One of Shawnee's claims to fame is that she took her owner on a 3,000 mile trek from California to Virginia. 50 plus miles of that adventure was through BLM Managed desert in which there was no water. Shawnee neither lost weight nor was she dehydrated at the end of that phase. Not bad for a mare that no one thought would ever be trained. As it turns out she just needed some one to believe in her and give her a chance.~ Shawnee is Mustang A Day Challenge Painting # 436
The name of the book that features the journey is called "Mustang Journal: 3,000 miles Across America by Horse " by Lisa Wood
