I chose buddy as one of my favorite stallions of Sand Wash Basin HMA because he was such a good buddy to Tripod in the early days of his graduation from his band. Yes thats right horses, even wild stallions, do not like to be alone. Tripod did spend some time alone but he soon found friends with Buddy and several other of the Bachelor Stallions on the range of Sand Wash Basin HMA. As of this writing Buddy has his first mare. His time with Tripod probably helped him fine tune the nurturing aspects of a stallions life. To keep a wild horse band together means fighting, to sustain a band means to know when to be firm and when to nurture. The best stallions do it very well. Its especially important to the survival of even the weakest of the band.
I'm a 30-plus year veteran artist in The Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont of Virginia. My subject matter is mostly Equine, companion animals and Country Life. I took up the Mustang A Day Challenge to paint a living American Wild Horse daily, 5 days a week, for a year. I specializes in alternative venues to exhibit my work. Collectors of my work are spread across Europe and North America. www.LLMartin.com http://mustangadaychallenge.blogspot.com
