Van Gogh is elder wild stallion Picasso's 2014 Son. Van Gogh,is out of first time dam, Robin. Picasso has been one of the most photographed wild stallions in the world since about 2002. These three currently reside at Sand Wash Basin HMA in the North West corner of Colorado. The range for this herd is about 160,000 acres, and while relatively small for most herd areas it is currently home to about 400 wild horses. While the horses have no official names, the names are given by the photographers to help in documentation of the herd and to help keep accurate numbers and identifying the horses in case of injury or straying off their protected area. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of this image goes to help in that documentation and the preservation and protection of this herd.
