This watercolor is a wonderful image of Tripod all grown up. He is a coming 4 year old bachelor stallion on the Sand Wash Basin HMA in Colorado. The original of this painting is 8 by 8 inches. It is part of a winter favorites series I painted in 2011.
Tripod is the adult son of Cheyenne and the great dunalino stallion Corona. His story is unique because not only is he wild horse royalty but he suffered an injury to his off hind hock at birth and is living his life to the fullest as a disabled horse. He runs and plays with the other young stallions in-spite of his injury. Tripod along with his dam and sire are both well loved characters of the modern western ranges of Colorado.
I'm a 30-plus year veteran artist in The Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont of Virginia. My subject matter is mostly Equine, companion animals and Country Life.
